About this piece

A pure wool shawl in beige, handwoven in Salampur, Swat. Heavier and warmer than our Khadi and Swati Shahtoosh, this is the shawl for the coldest weeks of the year.

Warmth first

Where the Swati Shahtoosh is woven fine to be light, the pure wool shawl is woven for warmth. It is 100% wool with a denser, fuller hand: the piece to wear over a sweater on a January morning in Islamabad or Peshawar, or on a winter drive north. It is also the most forgiving shawl we sell; it takes daily use and repeated washing without complaint.

The colour

Beige is the classic winter neutral. It warms up black and navy, sits naturally with brown and olive, and looks as right over a kurta as over a coat.

Size & how to wear

Size: approximately 40″ × 80″ (100 × 200 cm). One size, unstitched, with the natural fringe left as the loom made it.

Long enough to wrap twice, drape over one shoulder, or wear open over a formal outfit. Every piece is finished by hand, so measurements can vary by an inch or so.
Material & origin

100% wool, handwoven in Salampur, Swat. Heavier and warmer than our Khadi, made for the coldest weeks of winter.
Care

Hand wash cold with a mild wool shampoo, or dry clean. Press the water out in a towel, never wring, and dry flat in shade. Store folded with a cedar block. Do not iron directly; steam through a cotton cloth if needed.
