Kashmiri pashmina, at the everyday end
This is the entry point to our Kashmiri range: a pashmina shawl from the Kashmir looms that sits below our Kani and ring shawls in fineness and in price. It is softer and lighter than any of our Swati wool weaves, and it is the piece to choose if you want to wear pashmina every day rather than keep it for weddings. This is how we test pashmina, and this is how Swati and Kashmiri shawls differ.
Full embroidery
The needlework covers the whole field, in the Kashmiri hand-embroidery tradition known as sozni: fine, flat stitches that sit on the surface of the cloth without stiffening it. Kani vs sozni, explained.
The colour
Black with full sozni embroidery is the evening shawl: the ground disappears under lights and the needlework carries the colour. It goes over any outfit, which is why it is the most requested full-embroidered colour.
