A fine Kashmiri pashmina ring shawl (Palladar) in pale pistachio green, self-patterned across its entire length with large paisley medallions woven in the same colour, and finished at each end with a broad band of sweeping paisleys in amber, ochre, rust and cream on a warm brown ground, closed by a narrow plain green edge.
The name comes from the test. A Palladar is a shawl fine enough to be drawn whole through a finger ring — the traditional proof of fine Kashmiri pashmina. Yarn this fine breaks if the loom is pushed, so the weaving is slow and careful.
A field that is fully patterned, in one colour
Most ring shawls are woven plain, because pattern adds weight. This one is patterned across every inch — but tonally, green on green, so the paisley is built into the cloth rather than laid on it in colour. From a distance the shawl reads as plain pistachio, and only up close does the whole field resolve into paisley.
Green and amber
Green is an uncommon ground for a Kashmiri shawl, and many borders fight it. Amber does not — the two warm and cool tones lift each other instead of muddying. The band is faded rather than bright, so the effect is warmth against a cool field rather than contrast for its own sake.
Because it is unusual, it is also the piece that does not look like anyone else's shawl — which for many customers is the whole point at this price.

Handwoven cloth varies very slightly along its length; any faint unevenness you can see against the light is the mark of the handloom, not a fault.

Size: approximately 40″ × 80″ (100 × 200 cm). One size, unstitched, with the natural fringe left as the loom made it.
Long enough to wrap twice, drape over one shoulder, or wear open over a formal outfit. Every piece is finished by hand, so measurements can vary by an inch or so.
Fine Kashmiri pashmina. Handwoven in Kashmir, and fine enough that the finished shawl passes whole through a finger ring. Nothing is printed; every pattern is woven in.
Dry clean only. Between wears, air the shawl flat in shade for an hour; never hang it by one corner. Store folded in the box it came in, or in a cotton bag with a cedar block. Do not iron directly; if it creases, steam it through a cotton cloth. Put perfume on before the shawl, never onto it.
