A fine Kashmiri pashmina ring shawl (Palladar) in mushki, a deep musky brown-black, handwoven from pashmina fine enough to pass whole through a finger ring.
The name comes from the test. A Palladar is a shawl fine enough to be drawn whole through a finger ring — the traditional proof of fine Kashmiri pashmina. Yarn this fine breaks if the loom is pushed, so the weaving is slow and careful, and there is no shortcut to a cloth that passes. The ring is simply the proof.
Mushki is the shade Swat and Kashmir have always come back to — not quite brown, not quite black, and it shifts between the two depending on the light. It is the most forgiving dark colour to wear, and the one that reads as heritage rather than fashion.
Undecorated, so there is nothing to look at but the cloth itself. It folds down to almost nothing in a bag, weighs less than you expect in the hand, and is warmer than its weight suggests — which is the whole argument for pashmina at this level.

Handwoven cloth varies very slightly along its length; any faint unevenness you can see against the light is the mark of the handloom, not a fault.

Size: approximately 40″ × 80″ (100 × 200 cm). One size, unstitched, with the natural fringe left as the loom made it.
Long enough to wrap twice, drape over one shoulder, or wear open over a formal outfit. Every piece is finished by hand, so measurements can vary by an inch or so.
Fine Kashmiri pashmina. Handwoven in Kashmir, and fine enough that the finished shawl passes whole through a finger ring. Nothing is printed; every pattern is woven in.
Dry clean only. Between wears, air the shawl flat in shade for an hour; never hang it by one corner. Store folded in the box it came in, or in a cotton bag with a cedar block. Do not iron directly; if it creases, steam it through a cotton cloth. Put perfume on before the shawl, never onto it.
