Fine Indian Pashmina Shawl — Silver Grey
A finely handwoven Indian pashmina shawl in silver grey on ivory, patterned end to end in narrow horizontal bands — rows of paisley buta alternating with fine geometric and floral stripes — and finished with a plain ivory panel at each end.
This is the finest pashmina in the collection after our ring shawls. The yarn is spun thin enough that the cloth reads almost like silk in the hand, and the pattern is woven through rather than applied — hold it to the light and the design is legible from both sides.
What sets this piece apart is density. Rather than a single motif repeating across an open field, the whole length is filled with band after band of different pattern, each one changing scale and rhythm against the next. Every band is a separate set of instructions for the weaver to follow. Worked entirely in greys, blacks and stone against ivory, it stays quiet despite all that detail — the complexity is in the drawing, not the colour.
The restrained palette also makes it one of the few pieces at this level that reads equally well on a man or a woman.
