Kashmiri Hand-Embroidered Pashmina Shawl — Emerald & Crimson
A deep emerald pashmina shawl, hand embroidered in Kashmir with a field of small crimson buti and a fine floral border running the full perimeter.
Every motif here is placed by hand. Look closely and you'll see the needle's honesty in it — no two buti sit exactly alike, and the reverse carries the loose thread-work that only hand embroidery leaves behind. A piece like this takes an artisan weeks, working motif by motif across the length of the shawl.
Crimson on emerald is the oldest pairing in Kashmiri work, and the most difficult to get right — too bright and it shouts, too soft and it disappears into the ground. Here the red carries just enough orange to lift off the green without fighting it. The cloth beneath the needlework is a firmer, more substantial pashmina than our finest ring shawls — a piece made to be worn often rather than kept for occasions.
